Ross Himes | Postural Alignment Specialist

I am a certified Postural Alignment Specialist through the Egoscue Method. I specialize in working with athletes, active individuals, as well as professionals in office or desk-based careers. My primary focus is helping individuals with chronic pain, injuries, and those looking to optimize performance. As a runner, cyclist, skier, and desk-based office employee, I understand firsthand the importance of proper alignment and function for both everyday life and sport.

Key therapy principles

The Egoscue Method

The basis of this therapy is The Egoscue Method which views misalignments in the body as the root cause of pain. We view the body globally with the understanding that the body functions as a unit. Regardless of each client's individual condition, we treat the whole body as a means to achieve their specific goals.

The posture we present is indicative of the body's function. Using posture as a guide, we can identify areas of dysfunction and the root cause of pain to develop a course of therapy.

The therapy to be prescribed entails gentle exercises, stretches and movements to restore the body back to its original design posture. Muscles tell bones what to do. Therefore, we train muscles to reposition bones accordingly.

Client-Centered

This therapy seeks to put the client in the driver's seat of their body. I encourage clients to connect with their bodies and build greater awareness of the positions they place themselves in. Furthermore, I aim to empower clients with the education and tools necessary to confidently go about their lives and the activities they engage in.

Individualized Course of Therapy

Every body is different, therefore, each therapy program is designed to treat an individual's specific needs based on their own posture and functional capabilities.
